About me
About me
My name is Arran Dailly, from western Scotland. Born in Paisley, in 2005, I've always found myself hopping from passion to passion, but music has always remained a strong love of mine.
I was fairly successful through school, attaining high grades and partaking in a variety of STEAM-based extracurricular activities, fuelling my other love - motorsport.
At 17, I moved to Preston, Lancashire, to pursue a degree in motorsport engineering. But, within the two years that followed, I realised it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Plus, I found The Ferret, an absolutely incredible music venue, and was quickly adopted as one of their own.
Musically
I'm an independent artist that doesn't really conform to one genre. My sets can go from slow, melodic pieces to fast-paced, harsh, and creative interpretations of popular music. Though, I do lean pretty heavily into indie and britpop.
I find myself taking a wide range of influences - including The Backseat Lovers, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Gerry Cinnamon, Paolo Nutini, Arctic Monkeys and Sam Fender. I consider myself to be fairly versatile as a player, often partaking in jam sessions and open mic nights to collaborate with other musicians and build upon my existing skills, while experimenting with different playstyles and equipment.
I'm frequently trying to keep up with recent releases, too - both for inspiration, and to support up and coming bands.
Photography
In January 2024 I came across a Canon 350D in CashConverters. Having recently received my student loans, and with the idea of getting a half decent camera already in my head for a while, I decided I would purchase the little starters' bundle.
Since then, I have shot well over 60 gigs, including Hearts, Aziz Ibrahim (Stone Roses), and several local heroes such as The Empire Police and House of Wolves.
I also got the opportunity to shoot the Kopycat Killers at King George's Hall, Blackburn, which was an absolutely invaluable experience. They have invited me back for their upcoming Glasgow show, too!
Lover of Music
As outlined, I am a massive fan of music. The bond I have with certain artists is often what propels me through the peaks and troughs of life, and that's why I've started my new music blog.
I try my absolute best to keep track of all upcoming releases, especially from artists I follow, but also try new things - unheard playlists, New Music Friday, and my suggested Release Radar always keep me fuelled.
By supporting smaller artists, it ensures the future of music remains strong and proud, laying the foundations for their successors while also having the thrill of coming across someone before they 'went big.'
In 2023 I attended over 120 concerts and saw more than 250 artists between work, photography, leisure and my own performances.
